Select Board · Meeting of July 13, 2026

Erving's Select Board declared a dog named Jewels a public nuisance after its owner skipped a second hearing, and separately split funding to close a budget gap on a new excavator. Animal Control Officer Kyle Dragon of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office testified the dog jumped from a second-story window on May 5 and confronted an officer at its owner's door; the board ordered it kept from breaching its home and leashed outside, calling the order enforceable "regardless of where the dog goes" in Massachusetts. Highway Superintendent Glenn McCrory got board approval to lease a Wacker Neuson excavator for $233,107.35 after a promised 0 percent loan program fell through, covering a $13,000 mower and asphalt cutter separately through the Highway Department's special account.

The board also approved a $24,499.57 flooring contract with Atkinson Carpet & Flooring and cleared nearly $1.9 million in combined town warrants.
