Erving Board Hires New Activities Coordinator
Select Board · Meeting of September 1, 2026
Erving Select Board unanimously hires Jessamyn Hescock as the Senior & Community Center's new Activities Coordinator. Board members Jacob Smith, William Bembury and Jacquelyn Boyden picked Hescock over a second finalist, known in discussion only by the first name Jean, after both presented proposed programs during final interviews. Hescock, who previously built activity schedules at a Louisiana-area halfway house, pitched an "intergenerational playgroup" pairing seniors and children, budgeted at $698 of a $1,000 allowance.
Bembury said "I think candidate number one's presentation was much better than candidate two." The board set her pay at Grade D, Step 1, $28.63 an hour, 20 hours a week with benefits, starting on or before October 5. The center's director told the board the facility runs on "one and a half employees," prompting members to flag staffing levels for the fiscal 2028 budget cycle.
