Erving Board Approves $65,600 Clarifier Engineering Deal
Select Board · Meeting of August 17, 2026
Erving Select Board approves $65,600 clarifier engineering deal, presses trash hauler data. Chairman Jacob Smith, Selectman William Bembury and Select Board member Jacquelyn Boyden voted unanimously to hire Tighe & Bond Inc. for Task 1 design work on the Erving Center wastewater clarifier, funds not eligible for the town's pending State Revolving Fund application. In a joint session with Capital Planning, members reviewed data showing Erving's 1,052-pounds-per-household trash tonnage outpaces Leverett, Gill, Montague and Wendell; Bembury said "members of the community are going to have to offset that cost," while Boyden argued the hauler, not residents, bears blame for uncollected-sticker enforcement.
The board also appointed Franklin County Deputy Sheriff Peter Krejmas as a $29.28-an-hour part-time patrol officer, extended Interim Treasurer Jean Fountain through October 31, and approved $638,505.20 combined in fiscal 2027 warrants. Town Hall office reorganization, including relocating elections before an October 6 special election, returns August 31.
