Select Board votes to move polling site to library
Select Board · Meeting of August 31, 2026
Erving Select Board votes to move its polling place from Town Hall to the public library. The unanimous vote, effective September 2, follows concerns from Town Clerk Dick and Library Director Abby about Town Hall's accessibility, though member Jacquelyn Boyden flagged a faulty library exit door, warning "it's very congested" for voter flow. The board separately cut free trash stickers from 156 to 78 per household for fiscal 2027 after finding 308 of roughly 600 households never picked up this year's allotment, and voted to issue a request for proposals, effective September 9, for redevelopment of the former International Paper mill site.
Members also moved toward a Special Town Meeting, tentatively November 16, to add $200,000 toward a $348,000 school-building design contract after learning state reimbursement won't arrive for months. A $98,500 engineering proposal to repair a failed drainage culvert near Fire Station 2, within a $415,000 total project estimate, was discussed but not funded. The board approved a $190,240.17 warrant and a $119.09 water bill abatement.
