Erving's Select Board raised the water rate and funded long-delayed ballfield accessibility work.
Select Board · Meeting of June 1, 2026
Erving's Select Board raised the water rate and funded long-delayed ballfield accessibility work. Chairman Jacob Smith and Selectman William Bembury, with James Loynd absent, voted unanimously to set the fiscal 2027 water use rate at $5.79 per 1,000 gallons, up from $5.45, calling the increase "minimal" and unlikely to be "a hardship for the community at large." The board also awarded a $67,611.80 police cruiser purchase to McGovern MHQ Inc. of Marlborough and approved roughly $48,000 in special highway appropriation funding to pave accessible paths and parking at Zilinski Field, a project the Recreation Commission has pursued for seven to eight years. Separately, the board carried appointments to Information Technology Director and Treasurer screening committees to its June 15 meeting, approved a $415,581.63 accounts payable warrant, and voted 2-0 to enter executive session on contract talks for the fire chief, police chief and town administrator.
