Select Board hires two patrol officers, facilities manager

Select Board · Meeting of March 30, 2026

Erving's Select Board voted to hire two patrol officers and promote the highway foreman into a new facilities manager role. Chairman Jacob Smith and Selectmen William Bembury and James Loynd unanimously approved Alexander Meisner at $28.91 an hour, pending background, drug and psychological screening, and Nicolas Stone at $28.16 an hour, pending completion of the Massachusetts Police Training Committee Academy and background screening, and named Thomas Duffy Facilities Maintenance Manager effective March 31. The board also heard Franklin County Sheriff Lori Streeter's offer of patrol and animal control support but took no vote, and in a joint session with the Finance and Capital Planning committees learned a Plant 2 wastewater clarifier repair will cost $979,500, more than double the $400,000 placeholder.

"That clarifier is a real mess," said Water and Wastewater Superintendent Peter Sanders. The board approved a $129,280.34 accounts payable warrant and entered executive session on police union bargaining.
