School Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026
ERVING — The Erving School Committee voted to cut $72,705 from its fiscal 2027 budgets. Members approved an $11,000 cut to the elementary budget by eliminating next year's summer enrichment program, covering this summer's session instead through an expiring grant, and separately voted to level-fund the secondary tuition budget at $1,288,621, a $61,705 reduction from the $1,350,326 figure previously approved. Both votes passed 3-0 with one abstention.
Member Daniel Hammock argued against the cut, saying "we have always had enough money." Director of Finance and Operations Caitlin said the district has $66,576 left in uncommitted elementary funds this year. A speaker identified as Jackie, who attended Monday's Select Board and Finance Committee meeting, said town health insurance costs "rose 40 percent this year alone."
