School Committee · Meeting of June 16, 2026

Erving School Committee signed on to a solar letter of intent despite a tight federal deadline. The committee voted unanimously to authorize Chair Mackensey Bailey to sign a letter of intent with Select Energy, which pitched a 20-year power purchase agreement projected to save the district nearly $950,000 by cutting its electricity rate from about 17.6 cents to 3.6 cents per kilowatt-hour. Member Mark Blatchley pushed back on the timeline, asking bluntly, "There's no teeth in it, right?" after questioning whether the town was protected if a planned MSBA roof replacement slips past the company's July 4 tax-credit deadline.

Separately, Director of Finance and Operations Caitlin told the board the operating budget is down to $1,740.64, prompting members to press for an accounting of roughly $40,000 in unexplained spending, about $20,000 of it tied to highway truck repairs. The committee also approved $15,000 and $4,000 transfers to cover revolving-account shortfalls and fast-tracked three policy updates, IB, ID and IGB.
