Erving School Committee reorganizes, keeps Bailey as chair
School Committee · Meeting of September 30, 2026
Erving School Committee reorganizes for the year, reelecting Mackensey Bailey as chair with Kelly Sykes as vice chair. The three present members, joined by absent member Mark Blatchley's relayed preferences, filled ten subcommittee and liaison seats, including Daniel Hammock as capital planning liaison and Sykes as sole warrant signer. Members accepted $55,997.96 in grants, including a $39,499.96 Rural Aid Grant, a $15,998 REAP grant and a $500 EOS Foundation award for the food service program.
Director of Finance and Operations Caitlin flagged a Union 28 budget complicated by unsettled cost-of-living figures covering 89 percent of spending, while Bailey pressed her on an $8,352 special-education transportation overage, saying, "What I do not want to have happen is get to March and all of a sudden you come to a meeting and say we're $250,000 in the hole." Principal Beth reported elementary enrollment at 113 students. The board still has one vacant seat.
