Erving School Committee Clears Extra Funds for Over-Budget Kitchen Equipment

ERVING — June 21, 2022 — Erving School Committee authorizes up to $12,000 in additional spending on overdue kitchen equipment. The committee voted unanimously at its June 21 meeting to approve extra funds for a tilt skillet that had been budgeted at $14,300 but came in $10,000 to $12,000 over that figure, with bids from Vulcan and Crown still under review; Chair Mackensey Bailey said the money could be found within the existing budget without returning to the town. A second kitchen project — a walk-in refrigerator and freezer budgeted at $4,000 to $5,000 — drew no bids at its first site walk and was rebid. The board also unanimously adopted a compressed FY23 meeting schedule dropping October, December, and April sessions, directed $625 in Walmart-donated parent funds to an incoming third-grade class, and continued its retainer with Duprey Law Offices for two years. A remaining sixth-grade student activity balance of $776.32 was left unresolved, with members calling for a formal district fundraising policy.
