Erving Select Board Enters Executive Session Over Police Chief Contract Talks

ERVING — March 24, 2021 — Erving Select Board votes to close its meeting for police chief contract negotiations. The board, chaired by Jacob Smith, convened Wednesday via GoToWebinar and dispatched its only substantive open-session item — a brief COVID-19 update noting a Monday reverse-notification to the public and a planned departmental Phase 4 reopening meeting — before voting to enter executive session under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 30A, Section 21A2 to conduct strategy and contract negotiations with the chief of police, a non-union position. The board stated it would not return to open session after the closed meeting. No contract terms or dollar figures were disclosed publicly.
