Erving Select Board awards $1.2 million sewer contract, promotes officer to sergeant

ERVING — April 26, 2021 — Erving Select Board awards $1.2 million sewer contract and promotes a police officer to sergeant. The board voted unanimously at its April 26 meeting to award the Art Street sewer force main replacement project to Aqualine Utility Inc. at a total price of $1,205,940, including Bid Alternate No. 1, coming in roughly $50,000 below the town's project estimate and well within the $1.57 million in voter-approved borrowing authority secured in 2017. The board also unanimously approved the promotion of Officer Adam Pecos to sergeant at Grade P3, Step 3, on the recommendation of Police Chief Holst, who called Pecos "a tremendous asset" to the department and the town. Two long-pending police department policies — use of force and bias-free policing — were formally adopted on their third read, and a firefighter safety equipment grant of just under $8,000 was accepted to purchase 10 handheld thermal imaging cameras. The board also voted to certify Erving's continued status as a single-precinct town following the census review, and directed staff to finalize a support letter to state officials seeking construction funding for suicide prevention barriers on the French King Bridge, where nine incidents have already been recorded in 2021.
