Erving Trustees Interview Leverett Library Director in Remote Candidate Search

ERVING — May 8, 2020 — Erving's library trustee search committee interviewed one candidate Friday for the open library director position at the new Erving Public Library. Board of Library Trustees Chair McKenzie Bailey led the remote GoToWebinar session, joined by trustees Rupert Roy Clark and Dan Hammock, library assistant Jean Daly, Finance Committee member Charles Olinsky, school librarian Jane Urban, and Friends of the Library president Becky Hubbard. The candidate, currently director of the Leverett Public Library, described growing programming at Leverett by roughly 30 percent, securing multiple grants including a Local History grant from LSTA, and being invited the day prior to join the Massachusetts Library System's Finance Committee. She cited Erving's new library building, its proximity to the Senior Center and elementary school, and the town's "future-focused" civic culture as reasons for pursuing the position. The committee planned three additional interviews the morning of May 9, followed by scoring and a decision on which candidates advance to a second round before the full board of trustees.
