Erving Library Committee Interviews Two Candidates in Virtual Director Search

ERVING — May 7, 2020 — Erving's library search committee conducted virtual preliminary interviews with two library director candidates as the town races to fill the position before the outgoing director retires at the end of June. Chair Mackenzie Bailey led the Thursday evening GoToWebinar session, which included trustees, Finance Committee members, the Friends of the Library president, and the Erving Elementary School librarian. The first candidate, Jason, described a successful COVID-era pivot to an online summer reading platform called Beanstack at the Orange Public Library, while the second, Lisa, highlighted nearly 23 years of technology and programming experience at the Greenfield Public Library. Trustee Rupert raised an open-meeting fairness concern, prompting the committee to defer all candidate scoring discussion until after Saturday's final interviews, when the pool of seven is expected to be narrowed to two or three finalists for a final trustees' vote.
