Erving Select Board Enters Closed Session Over Personnel Matter, Skips Open Business

ERVING -- May 12, 2020, Erving Select Board went directly into executive session Tuesday over an undisclosed personnel matter, conducting no public business. Chair Jacob Smith called the remote meeting to order at 5:34 p.m. under Governor Baker's COVID-19 executive order permitting audio-video conferencing, then immediately moved to close the session under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 38, Section 21A, Paragraph 1, the provision covering discipline, dismissal, or complaints against a public employee. Members Smith and William Bembury voted in favor; a third roll-call name was recorded in the transcript but does not appear on the current board roster. The board did not return to open session.
