ERVING -- July 26, 2021, Erving Select Board approves emergency flood repairs, a $625,980 pump station contract, and a new community-TV agreement in a single Monday session. Chair Jacob Smith, Member William Bembury, and Member James Loynd voted unanimously on all seven procurement actions at the July 26 meeting, awarding flood-emergency bridge demolition and embankment repair on Swamp Road and North Street to Sam Browning Jr. Trucking of Northfield for a combined $89,550 under emergency waivers approved by state DCAM. The board then awarded construction of the AP Mills pump station and force sewer main to Balthazar Contractors Inc. of Ludlow for $625,980, drawing on a $401,500 MassWorks grant and ARPA funds, leaving an estimated $298,607 in ARPA infrastructure dollars available for other needs. A separate, deteriorating clay sewer line on Flat Hill Road, flagged as a potential $100,000 emergency repair, was tabled to a Saturday follow-up meeting. The board also awarded a one-year community-access television contract to Bernardston Northfield Community TV Inc. for $14,000, activating $30,000 in equipment funds that have sat unspent for roughly four years.
