Erving Recreation Commission appoints park-naming coordinator, plans spring basketball clinic

ERVING — February 28, 2021 — Erving Recreation Commission sets spring clinic, summer parks timeline, and park-naming process. The commission voted unanimously at its February 28 meeting to appoint member Eric as point person for a public nomination process to dedicate the Park Street playground, with submissions due around April 21 and a proposed vote at the May 5 Town Meeting. A two-day outdoor basketball clinic for up to 15 Erving residents in grades five and six was confirmed for April 10 and April 17 at the school grounds, with a $25 registration fee and 18 new outdoor basketballs to be ordered from BSN Sports. The commission also outlined summer parks staffing — a director starting around April 29, counselors starting the week before a tentative July 6 camp opening — and agreed to co-sponsor an outdoor concert series at the Riverfront bandshell on the fourth Saturday of June, July, and August in partnership with the Erving Cultural Council.
