Erving Recreation Commission Approves $500 Outdoor Basketball Clinic for Spring

ERVING — February 10, 2021 — Erving Recreation Commission greenlights $500 outdoor basketball clinic and a nearly $861 park construction sign. The commission voted unanimously at its February 10 meeting to fund a two-session youth basketball clinic to be held outdoors at Erving Elementary on April 10 and April 17, with Sunday rain dates, for students in grades four through six. Instructor Jess Galvin will be paid a flat $250 honorarium for the two sessions, with the remainder of the $500 budget covering outdoor basketballs; participants will pay a $25 registration fee. Principal Lisa Candido endorsed the outdoor plan, saying she would seek final health-provider approval by the following day. A separate unanimous vote authorized $860.69 to Hale Custom Signs for a four-by-four-foot announcement sign at Park Street Park previewing a coming playground installation. Commission members Jill Betters and Renee Tila were named as a two-person subcommittee to handle clinic logistics without requiring full commission sign-off on routine decisions.
