Erving Police Chief Screening Committee Enters Executive Session to Review Applicants

ERVING — February 11, 2021 — Erving's Chief of Police Screening Committee voted unanimously to enter executive session Thursday to review applicants for the town's top law enforcement post. The five-member panel, which met via GoToWebinar on February 11, disposed of its only public agenda item — approving brief minutes from a February 9 meeting — before closing to the public under MGL Chapter 30A, Section 21, Subsection 8. Members voting to enter executive session were Scott Baster, Jason Robinson, Jacob Smith, Chris Redman, and Ryan Smith. The chair declared that an open meeting would have a detrimental effect on obtaining qualified applicants, the standard required under state law. The committee did not return to public session.
