Erving Library Search Committee Advances Seven Finalists to Interview Round
ERVING — April 22, 2020 — Erving's library director search committee advanced seven finalists and set May interview dates at its first virtual meeting. The committee, which met via GoToMeeting on April 22, elected McKenzie as chair and Jane as secretary before working through an applicant pool identified by letter only to protect confidentiality. Members used a minimum-qualifications spreadsheet prepared by staff to assess candidates on library administration experience, supervisory history, budgetary knowledge, and trustee relations, ultimately reaching consensus on applicants C, E, F, H, N, O, and Q. A motion to consider two late-arriving applications passed 5 to 1, with member Charlie dissenting on the grounds that he had not reviewed them. The committee meets again April 27 at 5 p.m. to craft interview questions, with candidate interviews tentatively scheduled for May 7 and May 8 — roughly six weeks before outgoing director Barbara's planned June 24 departure.
