Erving Recreation Commission Votes to Surplus Zielinski Field Swing Sets and Merry-Go-Round
ERVING — March 28, 2021 — Erving Recreation Commission votes to surplus Zielinski Field playground equipment and eyes a Lowe's grant for an ADA walkway. The commission voted 3-0 at its March 28 meeting to declare three swing sets and a merry-go-round at Zielinski Field surplus property, clearing the way for removal and eventual replacement with two swing sets the town already owns. Members discussed applying for a Lowe's 100 Hometowns grant — deadline the third week of April, no disclosed dollar cap — targeting an ADA-compliant walkway at Zielinski as the most feasible project completable by end of 2021; member Allison agreed to gather photos and video for the application. The commission also agreed to solicit public name submissions for the renamed Park Street playground at the May 3 annual town election, with a June 6 deadline for final selection. The Bad News Jazz and Blues Band is booked for the fourth Saturday in June at the bandshell, with a rain date of the fourth Saturday in August. The commission's next meeting is set for Wednesday, April 28 at 6 p.m.
