ERVING — January 21, 2021 — Erving Planning Board approves ANR transfer, advances zoning overhaul on compressed timeline. Meeting remotely on January 21, the board voted unanimously to approve an Approval Not Required land transfer for Jennifer C. and Justin A. Demers on River Road, adopted revised zoning purpose language and a use table, and tabled a Planned Unit Development overlay map vote after Town Planner Mariah Kurtz and member Debra Smith argued the existing map inaccurately extends the PUD district deep into the Erving State Forest. The board set additional meetings for February 4 and February 11 at 7 p.m. and a public hearing for March 3 at 6 p.m., with town meeting fixed for May 12 and a warrant printing deadline around March 22. Public commenter Brandon Breault, a rural residential landowner, urged the board not to cut rural minimum lot sizes, telling members "there's nothing rural about" one-acre minimums, and Town Planner Kurtz said she found his argument persuasive enough to drop her earlier recommendation to reduce rural residential minimums from two acres to one.
