Erving Approves Traffic Safety Beacons, Liquor License Transfer at August Meeting

ERVING — August 24, 2020 — Erving Select Board approves $23,773 in pedestrian safety equipment and clears the way for a liquor license transfer at the former Pocket Saver Market. The board voted unanimously Monday to purchase rapid-flashing pedestrian beacon systems for crosswalks at More Street and Pratt Street, totaling $16,826, and a speed-monitoring feedback sign for Route 63 near the town library for $6,940, all from SafeWare Inc. using a $25,000 capital appropriation. The board also voted to support the transfer of the Pocket Saver Market liquor license from Vicky Fellows DBA Pocket Saver Market to Fiss Market LLC, with applicant Mr. Fiss telling the board he and his partner hope to reopen "as quickly as possible" after a property closing expected within six to eight weeks. Action on a contested pedestrian crossing at the Lester Street and Bridge Street intersection was tabled pending consultation with a state District 2 traffic engineer. The board also approved a $5,000 forgivable COVID-19 micro-enterprise relief loan to Robert Fletcher of Coyote Consulting, and directed staff to submit a MassWorks grant application by Friday seeking $2,352,290 for road and infrastructure work at the IPO redevelopment site.
