Erving Planning Board Tables Mill PUD Vote, Awaits Planner's Return

ERVING — March 18, 2021 — Erving Planning Board deadlocks over mill-area Planned Unit Development map, tables vote to April. The board could not reach agreement at its March 18 remote meeting on whether PUD overlay boundaries at four former mill sites — the Renovators warehouse, the former Strathmore mill, the former International Paper plant, and a French King parcel — should be drawn strictly around Central Village-zoned land or follow full property lines that include adjacent wetlands. Member Thomas Glennon made a motion to restrict the PUD to Central Village sections only, citing Conservation Commission concerns, but the motion was rescinded after member Debra Smith argued the change was premature without planning assistant Mariah present, and a second member withdrew her aye vote saying she did not feel adequately informed. The board also flagged unfinished work on auxiliary dwelling unit definitions and floodplain bylaw updates as remaining obstacles before a package can go to a fall special town meeting.
