Erving Planning Board Defers Marijuana Zoning and Development Overlay Decisions

ERVING -- April 14, 2021, Erving Planning Board advances marijuana zoning review and planned unit development map but reaches no final decisions. The board, meeting April 14 with three members present, Debra Smith and two others identified only as Mike and Moonlight, spent the bulk of its session attempting to reconcile conflicting versions of a draft cannabis use table that would govern where processing, cultivation, and retail marijuana operations are allowed across the town's zoning districts. Staff member Mariah agreed to produce a merged, tracked-changes document overlaying existing and proposed marijuana uses before the next meeting. The board also reviewed frontage data for parcels proposed for a planned unit development overlay near Renovator Supply, the Irving Paper Mill, and the French King district, finding that several lots, including one at just 25 feet of frontage, would not meet the proposed 400-foot minimum. Planning consultant Peggy is set to appear at the May 20 meeting, moved up one hour to 6 p.m., to address accessory dwelling units and affordable housing questions.
