Erving Conservation Commission Approves Kiah Brook Dewatering Plan Unanimously

ERVING — October 5, 2021 — Erving Conservation Commission unanimously approves Kiah Brook stream-bypass plan and issues cease-and-desist order against unpermitted riverbank fill. Chair David Bruhl and members Mark Watchlee, Mike, and MorningStar voted 4-0 at the October 5 meeting to greenlight Aqualine Utility's revised dewatering plan for the Arch Street sewer force main project, which routes brook flow through a 60-inch diversion pipe during in-stream work expected in November; Caitlin DeWolfe of Tyne Bond Engineering said the work should take no more than two weeks. The commission also voted unanimously to send a certified cease-and-desist enforcement order to the owners of the former Red Lantern property, where a large pile of debris and gravel has been deposited along a regulated riverbank without conservation approval. Two certificates of compliance for 61 North Street — numbers 154-21 and 154-56, open since the 1980s and 2001 respectively — were cleared by unanimous vote to allow a pending property sale to proceed. A site visit for a 16 Church Street flood-relief application, involving a proposed curtain drain and foundation repairs, was scheduled for October 18 at 2 p.m. as a posted public meeting.
